The New Zealand Life Cycle Management Centre (NZ LCM) in collaboration with Environmental Resources Management (ERM) organised a one-day workshop on water footprinting principles, methods and guidelines. The workshop was organised in Auckland on 27th March, 2012 coinciding with the NZ LCA Conference on 28th and 29th March, 2012.
Invited speakers from academia, industry and business provided the participants with an in-depth understanding of key water footprint principles, knowledge of emerging water footprinting methodologies, and guidelines for application and advancement of water footprinting in private and public sectors. The workshop was attended by 20 participants including representatives from business organisations and consultancies, academics/researchers and a regional council manager.
The participants discussed and highlighted the potential benefits of water footprint studies, but also strongly emphasised the complexity and sensitivities involved in assessing water footprints. The presentations and further information can be viewed by clicking on the links below:
