Water footprint reduction options for kiwifruit

A hydrologically rational approach, based on our SPASMO model, was used in an LCA context to quantify the water footprint of kiwifruit grown across 10 regions of New Zealand, considering 5 local soil types per region, and various irrigation strategies and frost-fighting practices.  We caution against summing the three different water colours of the footprint, to avoid unintended consequences in the interpretation of the sum.
