Carbon Footprint Reduction Options for Horticultural Products

This is a series of four projects beginning in 2008 were carried out in conjunction with the respective horticultural industries.  Direct funding from MAF, or through MAF’s Sustainable Farming Fund, and complemented by industry investment.  The four projects covered kiwifruit, wine, apples and berryfruit. The footprinting followed the PAS2050 protocol and the reduction options that were considered feasible if they met the criteria that they reduced the footprint by more than 1%, could be easily implemented and verified, and had a short pay-back period.  Reduction options across all phases of the life cycle were proposed
